2025 State of the Industry Report Reveals EV Hesitation in Mobile Compressed Air Industry
The 2025 State of the Mobile Compressed Air Industry Report has revealed that the despite heavy attention on electrification, only 5% of respondents are considering EVs for future fleet purchases. The finding highlights a stark gap between EV advocacy and actual adoption in mobile service fleets.
Concerns around infrastructure, performance, reliability, and cost remain barriers to EV integration. Many operators report uncertainty about whether electric vehicles can support demanding jobsite requirements, particularly when paired with compressed air systems.
“Electric vehicles are part of the future, but the industry is not there yet,” Mike Pettigrew, VMAC Marketing Manager. “Our customers are focused on uptime, payload, and productivity, and until EVs can reliably deliver those, they will take longer to be adopted.”
The survey underscores the importance of continuing to innovate in gas, diesel, and alternative fuel solutions while also preparing for the gradual transition toward EV compatibility. VMAC is monitoring fleet preferences closely and investing in technologies that will be adaptable to whichever power source dominates in the years ahead.
