2025 State of the Industry Report Reveals Labor Shortages Remain Top Concern for Mobile Compressed Air Industry
The 2025 State of the Mobile Compressed Air Industry Report has revealed that the industry is still struggling to fill open positions, with 58% of businesses citing workforce shortages as a persistent challenge. These labor gaps directly impact service delivery, equipment uptime, and the ability for fleets to meet customer demands in an increasingly competitive environment.
“The lack of skilled workers has moved beyond being a short-term inconvenience. Companies need to take proactive steps in recruitment, training, and retention to remain competitive,” said Mike Pettigrew, VMAC Marketing Manager. “At VMAC, we collaborate with industry stakeholders on solutions, including expanding trades education programs, creating more entry-level training pathways, and sharing best practices across sectors.”
The report highlights how workforce strain is intersecting with other concerns, including import tariffs (49%) and broader economic slowdown fears (48%). The data shows that labor is not just an operational issue, it’s now a structural risk to long-term industry resilience.
Other key findings include a decline in service van adoption, increased investment in newer fleet vehicles, and continued concerns about electric vehicle reliability. Respondents also reported unease about a potential economic slowdown (48%). Despite these challenges, 82% of respondents believe that business conditions will either improve or remain steady over the next 12 months.
